Word Power: Speak the Word ONLY

There is power in the Word of God. It is God’s purpose and desire for us to speak only His Word so we can experience what He has in store for us.

God’s Word will only work for you if you actually apply it. The Bible tells us not to be like someone who hears the Word and then forgets what he heard and becomes a forgetful hearer. Such a person is like somebody who looks at a mirror and forgets how he looks like. It is important that we put the Word of God that we hear to practice.

You are a Word practitioner, you practice the Word of God; you do it. So when I say speak the Word only that means put it to practice by speaking the Word only. Speaking the Word only might take some time for some people to master but after a while it becomes a lifestyle.

What you confess is what you possess. You have to use your mouth as an instrument of life, not death because you are literally word away from your harvest so don’t let negative speech short circuit your breakthrough. Speak the Word ONLY!

Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.”

(Mark 11:12–14 NKJV)

Notice the scripture says the fig tree had leaves. Usually leaves are an indication of fruit, so the tree was deceptive because there was no fig so Jesus said “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” Jesus spoke words and the Bible says “And His disciples heard it.”

Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.”

(Mark 11:20–21 NKJV)

As a side note, Jesus did not curse the fig tree. That was Peter’s interpretation of what Jesus did. Jesus was responding to the fig tree. If you look at the King James version of the same scripture the Bible says “Jesus answered and said unto it”

And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

(Mark 11:14 KJV)

The fig tree was speaking to Jesus and Jesus responded to what the tree was saying to Him. It is important that we know Jesus does not curse. Objects have intelligence and the tree was speaking to Jesus. Mark 11:22–24 goes on to say:

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

(Mark 11:22–24 NKJV)

The words you speak set the tone of your life.
If you don’t like the way your life is going, start saying something different from what you have been confessing. Your mouth should be used as an instrument of life, not of death.
Proverbs 21:23 says guarding your mouth from evil keeps you from trouble.

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue
Keeps his soul from troubles

(Proverbs 21:23 NKJV)

Most of the trouble you are going through today is because of your mouth. Your mouth has created so much trouble in your life because you haven’t learnt how to guard your mouth and your tongues. It is not everything that comes to your mind that you speak with your mouth especially if it is not in line with the Word of God. Many of your lives troubles are the result of the words you have spoken. Your mouth can work for you or against you.

In Matthew 12:37, the Bible makes it very clear to us that we are justified or condemned by the words we speak. This sounds untrue but it is true. Think about the court system, your words will either justify you in court of condemn you.

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

(Matthew 12:36–37 NKJV)

Your life is a product of your words. You are words away from experiencing harvest in your life.
Your words either transmit fear or faith. Because the Lord is your strength you really have nothing to fear, you must speak faith only.

If you want to experience God’s best in your life you must be in agreement with God in what you say because what you say is what you get.
You might say, “but I have been saying some things and I haven’t seen them manifest yet.” It is a process.

Words set in motion the activities of our lives.
To see manifestation of what you speak, your confession must be in alignment with the Word of God.
When you are out of harmony or synch with God your speech becomes polluted.

Do you realize that negative speaking hinders God’s desire to bring His word to pass in your life? The Bible tells us that it was God’s desire to take the Israelites to the land that flows with milk and honey and out of the over 2 million people that left Egypt, only 2 got into the Promised Land. Why was that? This is because the rest of them talked their way out of getting into the Promised Land. Their words overruled God’s desire to prosper them. So your words have the ability to short circuit your destiny. God promised the Israelites the land that flows with milk and honey but they did not get in because of their words.

God has told you good things about your life and your words have made you miss out on many things. You have missed out on getting your destiny helpers because of your words. You have missed out on your relationship moving forward because of your words. Why don’t you make up your mind today to understand the power of words and speak God’s Word only? Negative words will hinder God’s desire to pass in your life.

Do you know that you bring weariness to God when you speak words that contradict with His word? This is found in Malachi 2:17a

You have wearied the LORD with your words

(Malachi 2:17a NKJV)

It is not everything that comes to your mind that must come out of your mouth. Don’t give people a piece of your mind. If you keep giving them a piece of your mind, sooner or later, you will not have a mind of your own left.

Malachi 2:17b goes on to say:

Yet you say,
“In what way have we wearied Him?”
In that you say,
“Everyone who does evil
Is good in the sight of the LORD,
And He delights in them,”
Or, “Where is the God of justice?”

(Malachi 2:17b NKJV)

Every time you speak words like, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delights in them,”
Or, “Where is the God of justice?” you weary God. Some people would say, “Why is God not listening to my prayer?” or “How come God is not acting on my behalf”, or “How come God is not coming to my rescue” or “How come the evil ones are prospering“ or “How long will I suffer?”, or “Why is God allowing this to happen to me?”. Each time you say words like that you are wearying God.

The power of agreement is released when you speak in line with the Word of God.

In Amos 3:3 the Bible says “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”

So how can blessing and cursing come from the same source? How can you use your mouth to bless yourself and the same mouth to curse yourself? Many Christians do not understand the ramification of the words they speak. To bless means to speak positive or good of and to curse means to speak negative or evil of. So every time you speak negative words, you are releasing curses over yourself because you are no longer in agreement with the Word of God.

Make up your mind to speak God’s Word only. Words of life, words of progress, words of divine assistance and divine health no matter what you see. That is why the Bible tells us to walk by faith and not by sight. Do not speak words based on what you see, speak based on what God’s Word says. If you do this, you will start seeing some changes in your life.

Apostle Ese Duke

Do you want your life to change for better? It starts with your words.
Put to practice what you just learnt and see your life start to be transformed in a drastic way.

You are literally words away from your harvest; your harvest is on the way.
Confess your future by saying “My harvest is on the way”

Do you believe the words you speak? If you do, you will have what you say. Jesus skillfully chose His words, He believed what He said and He got quick results. You must think carefully every word you speak before you speak.

Do not pervert your words, learn what you are saying and use words in the proper context because words are dynamite, they are powerful.
Ask yourself, “is what I am saying what I expect to see?” If what you have been saying is not what you expect to see then stop saying it. Don’t take this for granted.

If anyone speaks words of curses into your life don’t accept them saying they are just words. No, they are dynamite! Do not give a listening ear to words that neither build you up nor try to instruct you in the right direction. You must immediately reject any words that anyone speaks that curses you.

You however have to watch every word you say, avoid idol words, avoid perverted speech, avoid saying things that you do not believe. Speak ONLY the Word of God. If you are unable to speak the Word, it is better not to speak at all because what you confess is what you possess.

Put this to practice in your life and be among those who testify that they worked the word and it really works.

Speak ONLY the Word of God!
